Reuse Fair Alternatives
Has it been a whirlwind moving out and finishing for the year and you’ve missed the window to donate, or our donation dates don’t work for you? Fear not! There are plenty of other ways you can donate your items today...
Give Away Platforms
You can post your items on free give-away platforms to be collected:
Clothes, Shoes, and Bags
Several charities and organisations will offer free collection or postage of clean, wearable clothes:
Sell your clothes if you have time on any of the below platforms:
Recycling Search
London Recycles is a great website to find out about all your recycling needs. This is a useful way to find out about recycling items you might not be sure about.
You can:
- Find your local recycling center
- Find out what to do with a certain item using their search tool
- Find out about local recycling services offered
Electronics
If you have any electronics that you no longer need, firstly ask around your networks (halls residents, classmates, colleagues, etc.) to see if anyone can give them a new home.
If this doesn't work, make sure you donate or recycle your electronics - do not throw them in the bin - this poses risks to the environment and health & safety.
Recycle Your Electricals has a handy tool to find your nearest donation or recycling point.
Duvets and Pillows
Unfortunately, whilst we encourage you to give away duvets and pillows via the above platforms, duvets and pillows are not widely recycled. If you can't find anyone who will take them off your hands, you should dispose of them in your household waste bin, or at your local recycling center.
We are currently not aware of charities accepting duvets and pillows.
If you have any questions or you can’t see a way to recycle, donate or dispose of your item, please get in touch with the team at: sustainability@qmul.ac.uk, who will do their best to help.
