Queen Mary alumni recognised in New Year Honours List 2025

Congratulations to members of our alumni community who have been recognised in the New Year Honours List.

Our alumni recipients represent outstanding contributions to public life, from healthcare and medical research to youth work and active citizenship.

  • Professor Sir Jack Cuzick CBE FRS (MSc Mathematics, 1971) awarded a Knight Bachelor for services to epidemiology.

  • Mr Dalim Basu MBE (BSc Computer Science, 1977) awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to young people and the promotion of science and technology.

  • Ms Judith Boichot MBE (BSc Geography, 1971) awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to the community in Dorset.

  • Dr James Hoare OBE (BA History, 1964) made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to UK interests in the Korean Peninsula.
  • Professor Siobhan Quenby MBE (MBBS Medicine, 1988) awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to obstetrics research.

  • Mrs Jill Terrell BEM (Geography BA, 1987) awarded a Medal of the Order of the British Empire for services to libraries.
