Centre for Catalan Studies Welcomes Paula Espinosa Velasco as Visiting Research Associate
We are happy to welcome Paula Espinosa Velasco from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, who will be joining us for a 3-month stay as Visiting Research Associate at the Centre for Catalan Studies. She is working on the translation of North American literature with Professor John London.

Paula holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting from Pompeu Fabra University, with further training in literary and translation studies. She is currently a predoctoral researcher at the Department of Translation and Language Sciences and a member of the TRILCAT research group.
Her PhD research focuses on colloquial literary language and slang in Catalan translations of crime fiction published in the 1960s. She has previously studied at the University of Glasgow and is now a Visiting Research Associate at Queen Mary University of London.
Alongside her academic work, she is a professional literary translator, a member of ACE Traductores, and the winner of the First Prize of the VI Complutense University Translation Award (2024).
