Screening for Holocaust Memorial Day: Bringing Etty Hillesum to Life

Published:

Summary of the event:
'Ultimately, we have just one moral duty: to reclaim large areas of peace in ourselves, more and more peace, and to reflect it toward others' (Etty Hillesum, 29 September 1942)
How come the words of this Russian-Dutch Jewish woman, who was murdered in Auschwitz more than 80 years ago, still inspire so many people today, bridging generations?
This documentary tells the story of peace activists Dina Awwad-Srour and Emma Sham-Ba Ayalon, working for global healing in the Middle East to help overcome hatred, dehumanisation, victimhood and despair. Such a message could not be more relevant today, as these peace activists invite us to engage in an online virtual in Remembering the Children of Gaza | Etty Hillesum Cards.
Following the screening, participants were invited to engage with the Etty Hillesum Cards, which contain inspiring and challenging quotes to reflect upon in our own lives and the wider global context.
