Protocols were developed through the following sequential process:

• Research and preliminary design drawing from aspects of domestic and familiar spaces
• Experiments in public discussion based on designs
• Refinements of protocol and dissemination

A series of experimental events in public, institutional, and community spaces brought together a wide group of people including policymakers, museumgoers, LGBTQ+ activists, and elders. Residencies offered focused dialogue with members of the community for further development.
