Indigenous Research Methods: International Research Seminars

LINK TO OVERALL INVESTIGATION ON RETHINKING MODELS OF INDIGENOUS DEVELOPMENT: in Component Three HERITAGE looked to consider what had been learnt about indigenous research methodologies.  ESRC/AHRC invited HERITAGE to organise a two-year programme of workshops and webinars looking at these questions with other indigenous and non-indigenous researchers, artists and activists from four continents. 

3.1.1 Indigenous Research Methods: a three-day workshop programme

Hosted at the Museum of Indigenous People, Rio de Janeiro, March 2019. Co-curators HERITAGE and TAKUMÃ Kuikuro [40 participants from 8 countries]. 

ESRC and AHRC invited HERITAGE to organise a two-year programme of workshops and webinars looking at questions and issues of indigenous research methodologies. Beginning with a three-day workshop in Rio de Janeiro in April 2019, and running through until a similar event planned to take place at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in March 2021, HERITAGE has worked closely with UKRI and indigenous and non-indigenous colleagues to examine methodologies of equitable research collaborations, as well as creating platforms for a critical discussion interrogating the contexts and purpose of development-focused indigenous research.
