Topic: “Intermediated and Digital Securities: Legal Framework Convergence”
The QM-UNIDROIT Institute for Transnational Commercial Law (ITCL), co-directed by Professor Anna Veneziano and Professor Rosa Lastra, is launching the QM-UNIDROIT Lecture Series coordinated by Dr Kamala Dawar. It will run from mid-October 2025 until December 2026. The aim of the lecture series is to share the wide expertise of the Advisory Board along with the indispensable role of UNIDROIT in the harmonisation of transnational commercial law. The in-person lectures will be followed by a networking opportunity at CCLS to allow for further discussions and interactions.
Dr Thomas Keijser is a senior researcher at the Faculty of Law of Radboud University, the Netherlands, specialising in secured transactions, financial law, and international commercial law. He was closely involved in the work of UNIDROIT (the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law) in connection with the preparation of the UNIDROIT Convention on Substantive Rules for Intermediated Securities, contributing to both the Official Commentary on the Convention and the UNIDROIT Legislative Guide on Intermediated Securities.
Earlier in his career, he practised as an advocaat in the Netherlands and worked in the Finance Group at Clifford Chance, as well as at De Nederlandsche Bank. He also acted as associate legal expert on an EU project in the Russian Federation. In addition to his role at Radboud, he has held visiting professorships and research appointments at institutions including the University of Tokyo, the University of California, Berkeley, the International Hellenic University, and EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht. He lectures and publishes widely on financial law and cross-border secured transactions.
