LLM students attend public oral evidence session at the House of Lords
On Wednesday, 5 November 2025, students enrolled in the Regulation of Financial Markets (RFM) module, taught by Professor Rosa M. Lastra, attended a public oral evidence session at the House of Lords.

This session was part of the Committee’s ongoing inquiry into the growth of private markets in the UK following the post-2008 reforms, in which Professor Lastra acts as Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee.
The Committee heard evidence from senior representatives of the banking and financial stability sector, including the Group Chief Executive of Lloyds Banking Group, the CEO of NatWest Commercial and Institutional, NatWest Group, and the Executive Director for Financial Stability Strategy and Risk at the Bank of England.
The discussion offered valuable insights into the connection between the banking system, prudential regulation, and the growth of private markets, as well as ongoing efforts to maintain financial stability. For students, the visit provided another chance to see how the concepts studied in RFM are applied in practice and debated at the highest institutional levels.
