Profile

Edmund is a Reader and Honorary Consultant in Oral Surgery at Queen Mary University of London and Barts Health NHS Trust.

After graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2007, he completed his clinical specialist training in the north west of England. Whilst at Manchester, he completed his MPhil on the subject of post-operative pain management, working closely with the Cochrane Oral Health Group. In 2014, he received an NIHR grant to work on Patient Safety in Primary Care Dentistry.

Edmund has over 35 peer reviewed publications in several journals on the topics of Pain Management, Evidence Based Surgery and Patient Safety. In 2022, he was the PI on the industry sponsored Metapain analgesic trial.

He developed and launched the DClinDent in Oral Surgery in 2020, and he continues in his role as Programme Director for this 3-year clinical and academic programme. He has co-authored a textbook for undergraduate dental students and contributed chapters to the Oxford Handbook of Management for Hospital Dentistry.

He was an elected Council member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons from 2017-2023, and he contributes to Project Sphere, an initiative on patient safety in dentistry led by the Office of the Chief Dental Officer for England.
