The Doctoral College are seeking applications from current Postgraduate Research (PGR) programme students from all disciplines for our Online Training Development Assistant position. This role involves develop an effective CPD training course website for existing PGR supervisors training content. Previous experience working with a virtual learning environment (VLE) in an administrative capacity is desirable but not essential.
We have several key tasks outlined for this project:
- Review existing online training on the CPD Training System: Review how current online training on the CPD Training System is structured and create options for potential set-ups for both PGR supervisors training courses.
- Determine the layout and presentation for both PGR supervisors training courses: Working with the Doctoral College Training Manager, determine the layout and presentation for both PGR supervisors training courses, including the ordering of the content and whether all content should be hosted on the same page or if new pages are required.
- Organise training content: Implement the agreed-upon presentation for both courses, including proofreading and quality assurance checking of the set up and accuracy of content that may become out of date, such as links.

- This role is temporary, spanning a 12-week period at 6 hours a week.
- The role will be supervised by Melanie Crisfield, Training Manager, in the Doctoral College at Queen Mary.
Qualifications and skills:
- Currently enrolled in a PGR programme in any subject at Queen Mary (essential).
- Experience of learning through the CPD Training System (essential).
- Experience of teaching through VLE (desirable).
- Experience of using the CPD Training System in an admin capacity (desirable).
- Collaborative and independent working (essential).
- Creative problem solving skills (essential).
- Ability to learn quickly (essential).
- Enthusiasm for learning new technical and researcher development skills (essential).
- Able to manage work independently and complete work to deadlines (essential).
- Able to work with feedback and present and discuss ideas and solutions confidently (essential).
Position details:
- Duration: 12 weeks, 6 hours a week, starting on 9 February 2026 and ending on 1 May 2026. Candidates must be available to work throughout the project timeframe.
- Compensation: Successful candidates will be employed as temporary workers through Q-Temps and will receive £17.22 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Work Arrangement: This will be a remote position with regular project progress reviews scheduled throughout.
- Weekly Meetings: Weekly 30-min online project review meetings will be held with the project team to discuss progress, successes, and any barriers encountered.
