More than 200 representatives from 50 UK-China joint institutes attended the conference to discuss the high-quality and innovative development of UK-China Transnational Education (TNE). Senior officials from the Ministry of Education, the China Education Association for International Exchange, and the British Embassy in China attended and delivered welcome speeches.
Professor Colin Bailey, President and Principal of Queen Mary University of London, delivered a keynote speech titled “Innovating with Integrity: Higher Education in the Age of AI”. Colin’s speech focused on the mission of higher education in the age of artificial intelligence. He introduced Queen Mary University of London’s practices in AI education, emphasised the importance of upholding both “innovation and integrity” amid the rapid development of AI, and shared recent frontier research findings related to AI and creativity, as well as AI and climate.
Experts and scholars from JIA member institutes exchanged ideas on key emerging topics in TNE. Educational leaders from Queen Mary University of London made significant contributions to several panel discussions.
Professor Wen Wang, Vice-Principal and Executive Dean for Science and Engineering, shared his view at the panel discussion “Policy Shifts to Partnerships: The Next Chapter in UK-China TNE.”
Professor Yue Chen, Director of Scholarship and TNE Senior Advisor, offered insights in the panel discussion “Digital Transformation, AI and Quality Enhancement in TNE.”
Professor Michael Chai, QM Director and Executive Vice Dean of the Joint Education Institute/Joint Programme with BUPT, led the discussion on “Growing Joint Institutes: Resilience, Alignment and Sustainable Growth.”
The discussions provided valuable experience and insights for promoting the high-quality and sustainable development of UK-China TNE.
During the conference, delegates visited BUPT’s Science and Technology Achievement Exhibition Hall and Future Learning Building, gaining first-hand insight into the university’s achievements in technological innovation and digital education.
Looking ahead, the QM-BUPT JEI will continue to respond to the new opportunities and challenges brought by the latest technological developments in international educational exchange and cooperation, while further enhancing innovation in TNE.
