Abstract
Recent years have witnessed an unprecedented interest in the analysis and generation of images and image sequences using Deep Learning methodologies. In this talk we will focus on some of our recent works in analysis of images sequences with applications on video retrieval, few shot action recognition and affect recognition. Methodologically, we will present frameworks for learning to compare image sequences, perform knowledge distillation and few shot learning. If time permits, we will briefly present our recent work on controllable (facial) image generation that is based on the analysis of the latent space of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs).

Bio
Ioannis (Yiannis) Patras is a professor in Computer Vision and Human Sensing in Queen Mary University of London.
