Abstract: In healthcare, there is a strong move away from the ‘one-size fits all’ approach to therapy based on the overall average treatment effect in the population towards strategies that tailor therapies to individual patient characteristics. Digital, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence technologies are key to realise this precision medicine potential. In this talk, Dr. Zane Perkins will describe how their research team at QMUL has applied these technologies to difficult therapeutic decisions in trauma surgery and the lessons they have learned along the way.
Bio: Zane Perkins is a consultant Trauma and General Surgeon at the Royal London Hospital, a consultant Physician for London’s Air Ambulance, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Trauma Sciences, QMUL.
