Dr Mona Jaber , Lecturer in Internet of Things, will be presenting on:
IoT for enabling sustainable living: challenges and opportunities
Abstract:
This talk investigates the role of IoT in enabling sustainable development goals (UN-SDG-2030), including intelligent transport and energy. It will start with an introduction to the IoT paradigm followed by the IoT lifecycle, from sensor design to data interpretation and value creation. Opportunities and challenges arising at each stage in the IoT data journey will be highlighted through an examination of two ongoing projects in our research group. We present our ground-breaking work on the novel Distributed Acoustic Sensors (DAS) and deep learning techniques in intelligent transport. The talk will then discuss our latest research in energy production efficiency that leverages distributed reinforcement learning techniques in the context of an IoT-driven digital twin of residential energy consumption. A brief study of IoT scalable, energy-efficient, and secure connectivity will follow with highlights of our research in artificial immune systems and context-aware IoT networks.
