What influences Londoners' wellbeing, and what can help?

When: Thursday, November 9, 2023, 9:30 AM - 11:35 AM
Where: , Mile End

At this event, you’ll hear about our latest research into Londoners’ wellbeing (conducted with the Centre for London), which explores how it could be improved.

At this event, you’ll hear about new research into Londoners’ wellbeing (conducted with the Centre for London), which explores how it could be improved, before a panel of experts and policymakers respond to our ideas and debate the way forward.

This research uses data from Understanding Society, a large study which asks the same people questions about their lives every few years.

There are many factors that influence Londoners’ wellbeing. We found that the following have a particularly big impact:

  • how satisfied people are with their leisure time
  • whether people work, and if so, how much autonomy they have in how they do their work
  • how satisfied people are with their health
  • the level of neighbourhood social cohesion where people live

Earlier this summer, we also conducted roundtables with experts on a variety of topics to discuss how public policy can influence the factors most closely associated with Londoners’ wellbeing. We’ll be sharing their observations at this report launch and discuss what London’s leaders must do next.

This event will be in-person only. A recording will be available afterwards on our YouTube channel.
