Profile
PhD title
Through Their Eyes: Autobiographical Photography and Writing of Jewish Youth in London's East End, 1935–1975
My research project is based on a collection of hundreds of photographs and written materials produced by members of the Brady Youth Club in east London during the 1930s-1970s and examines the theoretical, empirical and methodological issues in the display and reception of autobiographical photographs and writing in museums and galleries. I co-curated four exhibitions of these materials at various sites in east London between 2022 and 2025. I have created a website to foster public engagement with the Brady Photographic Archive and fundraised and delivered a project to digitise the photographic collection, to identify the people and places in the photographs and to produce videoed oral histories of people who attended the Brady Club in their youth.
