Profile

James is a social scientist interested in the relationships between environmental research, policy and practice. He currently works as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Critical Environmental Policy Studies on the RACC project (Resilience of Anthropocene Coasts and Communities), which is investigating the interlinked risks of climate change, coastal flooding and erosion, and the UK’s historic waste legacy.

Prior to joining Queen Mary, James worked as a Policy Fellow with Scottish Government and the British Ecological Society, as a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the University of Edinburgh and as a Social Scientist with Forest Research. His PhD research at the University of Edinburgh and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh employed an audio-visual methodology to explore the diverse discourses regarding livestock encroachment in community-managed forest reserves in Tanzania.
