The QM-UNIDROIT Institute for Transnational Commercial Law (ITCL), co-directed by Professor Anna Veneziano and Professor Rosa Lastra, presents the QM-UNIDROIT Lecture Series coordinated by Dr Kamala Dawar. Running from mid-October 2025 to December 2026, the lecture series aims to share the Advisory Board's extensive expertise and the essential role of UNIDROIT in harmonising transnational commercial law.

Professor Georges Affaki is a Chartered Arbitrator, a Justice of the Qatar International Court, a qualified Avocat before the Court of Appeal of Paris, and a Professor of Law at the University of Paris. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration and the Panels of Arbitrators and of Conciliators of ICSID. He has served two terms on the ICC International Court of Arbitration. He practises in Paris and is a member of DesVoeux Chambers' List of Neutrals in Hong Kong. His legal work covers international dispute resolution and international finance, with twenty-five years of experience in corporate and private practice. He has special expertise in crisis management within global corporations and in coordinating cross-border litigation and internal investigations. Professor Affaki is ranked by Chambers among the Most in Demand Arbitrators and by Euromoney in the Guide to the World's Leading Commercial Arbitration Lawyers. As Chairman of the Banking Commission of ICC France, he holds prominent roles in international organisations, regularly chairing rule and standard-setting groups recognised as industry standards. He is the author of leading textbooks and articles on international arbitration, economic sanctions, international banking and finance, and Islamic finance. In 2019, he was appointed Foreign Trade Counselor of France by Ministerial Decree. He is fluent in Arabic, English, and French.
