Organised by Professor Kanami Ishibashi of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Professor Fitzmaurice reports on her attendance as below:

The conference lasted four days and was an inspiring assessment of how this principle has evolved at national and international levels.

Excellent presentations were delivered from various Asian States on this subject and a number of presentations of this principle in international law.

It may be added that topics included WTO; international criminal law. It is difficult to reflect in this short post on the incredible wealth of information and analysis which was presented at the conference by leading national and international scholas. Indeed, much has been achieved in this area and the legal (including litigation) and theoretical aspects of intergenerational equity are evolving (since the publication of seminal work of Edith Brown Weiss) and present a fascinating area of law.

I had a presentation on biodiversity and the wellbeing of future generations which included both philosophical and practical aspects.
