Profile
Jonathan Slagter is a Teaching Associate in European Union Law and a doctoral student in the School of Law at Queen Mary University of London.
He holds an LLM degree in European Law from the University of Edinburgh. He also has an MA degree in European Studies from the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and a BA degree in History from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.
He has experience working on immigration and nationality law in the UK and the EU.

Research
Jonathan draws in my doctoral research on political and legal theory on the Rule of Law to critique the external border regime of the European Union. He is working under the supervision of Professor Violeta Moreno-Lax and Professor Mario Mendez. He is supported by a Principal’s Studentship from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Queen Mary University of London.
He has three main research interests in law:
- Immigration and nationality law;
- European Union law; and
- Philosophy of law.
