Induction
14-25 September 2026: PG Law Induction (2 weeks)
A schedule will be available later summer. The induction programme is designed to:
- welcome students onto their programme of study.
- meet the academic and professional services staff and fellow students on your programme.
- module selection – information and guidance.
- learn how to use QMplus online virtual learning.
- meet the Career teams.
- intro to Library facilities.
- Academic skills sessions.

Module selection: Wednesday 23 - Sunday 27 September 2026.
Semester 1 (A26): 28 September – 11 December 2026
During this period you will be attending lectures and tutorials arranged across two Study Blocks A and B
28 September – 30 October 2026: Teaching Period Sem 1 Study Block A (A26)
- Study Block A (15 credit modules) and
- First 5 weeks of 30 credit modules
2-6 November 2026: Study Week (no teaching)
9 November – 11 December 2025: Teaching Period Sem 1 Study Block B (A26)
- Study Block B (15 credit modules) and
- Study Block B (30 credit modules continues)
25 November 2026: Students doing a compulsory or elective Dissertation will need to submit a draft/working title
14-18 December 2026: Study Week
Semester 2 (B25): 26 January – 10 April 2026
7-22 January 2027: Examination Period (Semester 1 modules)
7 January 2027 (Block A 15 credit modules) at 10am: Course Essay Submissions (Semester 1 modules depending on block taught)
13 January 2027 (Block A 30 credit modules) and (Block B 15 credit modules) at 10am: Course Essay Submissions (Semester 1 modules depending on block taught)
25 January – 9 April 2027: Teaching Period Sem 2 (B26)
- During this period you will be attending lectures and tutorials arranged across two Study Blocks C & D
- Dissertation allocation and first supervisory meeting to commence
25 January – 26 February 2027: Teaching Period Sem 2 Study Block C (B26)
- Study Block C (15 credit modules) and
- First 5 weeks of 30 credit modules
1 March - 5 March 2027: Study Week (no teaching)
8 March - 9 April 2027: Teaching Period Sem 2 Study Block D (B25)
- Study Block D (15 credit modules) and
- Final 5 weeks of 30 credit modules
12-16 April 2026: Study period.
- Some additional teaching may take place on Economic modules – applicable to MSc Law and Finance / LLM Law and Economics only (subject to change).
- This is also a last week of Sem 2 (B25) and academics are required to make themselves available for the classes which will be rescheduled in lieu of bank holidays on 3 and 6 April 2026.
4 May - 5 May 2027: Study period
6 May - 4 June 2027: Examination period for Semester 2 and Year Long Modules
6 May 2027 (Block C 15 credits) at 10 am: Course Essay Submissions (Semester 2 modules, depending on block taught)
13 May 2027 Block C (30 credit modules) and Block D (15 credit modules) at 10am: Course Essay Submissions (Semester 2 modules, depending on block taught).
Semester 3 (C26): 7 June – 9 July 2027
7 June – 9 July 2027 (Law modules only): Teaching Period Sem 3 (C25):
- During this period, you will be attending lectures and tutorials across 5 weeks of teaching
- Dissertation - continue working with allocated supervisor
July – August 2027: Dissertation writing up and completion period (if applicable)
2 August – 13 August 2027:
- Examination Period: Semester 3 modules
- Late Summer Resit Period: Semester 1 and 2 modules
13 August 2027: Course Essay Submission: Semester 3 modules and Semester 1/2 Resits
19 August 2027: Dissertation Submission
6-21 January 2028: Resit period: Examination Period: Semester 3 modules
December 2027/January 2028 (TBC): Winter Graduation Ceremonies
