Director - Professor Sanmeet Kaur Dua

Sanmeet is a Professor of Legal Education at Queen Mary University of London.  Sanmeet joined Queen Mary in 2019. Sanmeet teaches Contract Law, Legal Skills, Methods and Context and Tort Law. Sanmeet has also previously taught the Graduate Diploma in Law, Administrative Law, English Legal Systems and Legal Skills.

Sanmeet is the Deputy Head of Department and the Director of Education for Law over also the Deputy Director for Student Experience. Prior to joining Queen Mary, Sanmeet worked at The City Law School for 11 years and was the Associate Dean for Student Experience and held various roles including Assessments Officer, Senior Personal Tutor and Programme Director for the LLB.

Sanmeet’s research interests include legal education and skills and has significant experience in legal curriculum design.

Sanmeet's publications include, The Insider's Guide to Legal Skills - 2nd edition | Elliott & Quinn's English Legal System (22nd Edition), 2024 | Unlocking Torts (5th Edition).

Sanmeet has held visiting posts at various institutions, Université Catholique de Lille, University College London and University of Surrey.

Sanmeet is fluent in speaking Punjabi and Hindi.

Chair - Ajit Mishra

Ajit MishraAjit Mishra is a London-based corporate lawyer and India market specialist. He is an India-qualified Advocate and a Solicitor of England & Wales, advising on cross-border M&A and commercial transactions involving India, the UK, and Europe.

He is Co-Head of the India Group at a leading international law firm and regularly advises Indian corporates expanding into the UK and Europe, as well as international companies investing in India.

Ajit is Chair of the UK–India Legal Partnership, Chairman of the CII Sub-Committee on International M&A, and Special Economic Advisor to the City of Magdeburg (Germany).

Queen Mary India Law Centre Advisory Board

The Advisory Board, chaired by Ajit Mishra brings together experts and specialists to support the Queen Mary India Law Centre. It will provide industry knowledge, strategic direction and vision on supporting students who would like to enter the professional legal industry in the UK, India and beyond.
