SMS's Professor Claudia Garetto appointed Faculty EDI Lead

School of Mathematical Sciences' Professor Claudia Garetto has been appointed as EDI Lead for the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Professor Garetto has chaired the School's EDI committee since January 2022 and lead the school’s successful Athena Swan Bronze Award renewal application.

Following her recent appointment Claudi told us: "EDI is at the core Queen Mary's 2030 strategy to become the most inclusive university of its kind, anywhere.

I feel honoured to have been appointed as EDI Lead of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and I am looking forward to working with colleagues in the five schools across the faculty to implement changes that will benefit our community of students and staff. 

I am particularly eager to give visibility to under-represented groups and to provide inspiring role models for our cohort of students, making sure that everyone in our faculty feels accepted and welcome. Ultimately, I would like Science and Engineering become an EDI champion and role model for the other faculties in our university."
