Professor Miri Rubin delivers prestigious Gifford Lectures
Professor Miri Rubin will deliver the renowned Gifford Lectures in Aberdeen during Feb-March. The series, consisting of four lectures, a concert at King’s College Chapel, and an event at the Aberdeen Art Gallery, seeks to provide a rich examination of the feminine within the realms of religion and beyond.
Through a series of thought-provoking events, Professor Rubin will introduce audiences to an array of texts, images, and music associated with feminine figures and concepts in Christianity. By employing a comparative approach, she will offer a novel understanding of the role of the feminine across multiple religious traditions.
Miri Rubin is Professor of Medieval and Early Modern History at Queen Mary School of History. She has taught at Cambridge and Oxford, has been a visiting scholar at several international research institutions. She is the author of books on aspects of medieval religion and is dedicated to sharing her expertise with diverse audiences through various media platforms.
Since their inauguration in 1888, the Gifford Lectures have evolved into a preeminent series of public intellectual events. They provide a platform for renowned scholars to contribute to the exploration and dissemination of knowledge, fostering a deeper understanding of natural theology and its broader implications.
