Staff, alumni and current students gathered in the Octagon to hear from keynote speakers Lord Reed, President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, and Pen Moodz, spoken word poet, lawyer and School of Law alum.
Lord Reed delivered an insightful speech on the history of legal education and the development of the School over the years, while Pen Moodz performed a powerful spoken word piece reflecting on his time as a student.
Following the speeches, guests enjoyed a drinks and canapés reception, offering an opportunity to reconnect and share memories. Chair of the Anniversary Committee, Professor Alan Dignam, encouraged attendees – whether students, alumni or staff – to reflect on their shared experiences and the many factors that have contributed to the School’s success over the past 60 years.
Professor Michael Harker, Head of the School of Law, said:
“It was a fantastic evening celebrating and reflecting on the growth and success of the School of Law. It was wonderful to see alumni, staff and current students connecting and sharing stories. Thank you to everyone who helped organise this event and to all those who joined us to celebrate. We are so grateful to everyone dedicated to the success of the School of Law.”
