Launched in March 2025, the President’s Global Scholarships provide £10,000 awards to outstanding international postgraduate offer-holders. The inaugural scholars were selected from a 1,000 applications across Queen Mary’s three Faculties, with study areas including law, international relations, financial mathematics, dentistry, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence.
This first cohort represents 12 countries — including Canada, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, India, Egypt, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, China and Pakistan — reflecting the breadth of Queen Mary’s global community and partnerships. One scholar joined Queen Mary through our education partnership collaboration with Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU).
Professor Colin Bailey said:
“Welcoming our international scholars, including the inaugural cohort of President’s Global Scholars, is an honour for Queen Mary. These students embody the diversity, ambition, and potential that define our community, and they remind us why opening doors to opportunity matters. I encourage all our students to connect with our networks, communities and student societies, so they can support one another and make the most of their time at the University.”
