Queen Mary Academy Fellowships
Queen Mary Academy Fellowships are high-profile opportunities for staff to develop, share and promote their educational and scholarship practice.
“The Queen Mary Academy Fellowship has been a truly transformative experience, deepening my understanding of curriculum design, academic leadership, and scholarship. I am thankful for the invaluable opportunities I have had to collaborate across disciplines, broaden my professional network, and enhance my approach to education and leadership. This experience has been both rewarding and inspiring, and I look forward to the lasting impact this new curriculum will have on our students and the future of dental education".— Dr Radhika Desai, Institute of Dentistry

How the Fellowship Works
Key features
QMA Fellowships are part-time, fixed-term secondments, funded by the Queen Mary Academy.
QMA Fellowships secondments are typically for one year, with up to one day a week of your time ‘bought out’ for the project. Fellowships can also be undertaken in more intensive, shorter blocks of time.
QMA Fellowships usually begin at the start of Semester 1 but can be flexible if there is a good reason for a different start date.
Applications
The annual Open call for Queen Mary Academy Fellows launches in January and closes in early March.
Applications for QMA Fellowship secondments must have the support of the relevant Head of School or Institute.
Occasionally, additional opportunities may be available through directed calls, focused on specific themes or strategic priorities (these are announced separately).
We particularly welcome applications from academic colleagues who:
- Have a track record of leading educational change
- Can propose a high-impact, scalable project aligned to Strategy 2030
A Queen Mary Academy Fellowship is a strategic leadership role with an institutional remit. Fellows are therefore expected to make an active contribution to Queen Mary’s educational priorities, alongside delivering their own project.
As a Fellow, you will:
- Contribute to institutional priorities
Share best practice and contribute to working groups, initiatives and Communities of Practice
- Represent Queen Mary Academy and your School/Institute
Act as an ambassador for educational innovation across the University
- Engage with the Fellows community
Play an active role in a collaborative network of current and former Queen Mary Academy Fellows
- Disseminate your work
Share your practice internally and externally (e.g. Festival of Education, case studies, posters, conference presentations)
