Dr Edward Macaulay won the Innovation Project Award for his “A Bite of Space-Time” activity, which he exhibited this summer with QMUL's Centre for Public Engagement at the Lambeth Country Show, engaging with over 400 people. Our wonderful SPCS student ambassadors also helped Dr Macaulay deliver the activity at this event. The activity invites participants to decorate a cookie with different kinds of confections to represent events and objects in space-time, and to explore how the past, present, and future are connected with the speed of light.

The Particle Physics Research Centre (PPRC) won the Research Group Award. This award recognises all the brilliant engagement work that the group do, leading projects in PRiSE, particle physics masterclasses, supporting summer schools, and so much more. The PPRC champion public engagement; there is a really positive culture in the team around engagement, encouraging early career researchers and PhD students to get involved. On behalf of the group, the award was accepted by Dr Seth Zenz, Dr Nicola McConkey, Dr Gitanjali Poddar, and Dr Linda Cremonesi.

A huge congratulations to the teams for this well-earned recognition of their inspiring public engagement work!
