I am a Senior Lecturer in Genetic Epidemiology at Queen Mary University of London, where I lead an independent research programme investigating the biological basis of type 2 diabetes in underrepresented populations. I serve on the Executive Committee of Genes & Health, the world's largest community-based cohort of British Bangladeshi and Pakistani people, and am Scientific Consultant in Genetic Epidemiology at the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, India.
My research combines human genetics, epidemiology and multi-omics to uncover disease mechanisms and advance more equitable approaches to precision medicine. I have established international collaborations spanning the UK, India, North America and Southeast Asia, and am Associate Director of the Wellcome-funded Health Data in Practice PhD programme, where I am committed to developing the next generation of interdisciplinary health data scientists.

Genetic epidemiology of type 2 diabetes in south Asian populations; diverse populations; young and lean onset T2D; precision medicine; multi-omics to study disease aetiology.
