Mandatory Training for PGR Students

Queen Mary University of London requires that PGRs complete the following mandatory training:

  • Research Integrity Essentials.
  • Cybersecurity and GDPR.

PGRs registering from the beginning of the 2025/26 academic year need to undertake both of these courses prior to their first year review.

Research Integrity Essentials

PGRs registering from the beginning of the academic year 2022/23 need to undertake the centralised research integrity training, which is provided online via the CPD Training System

Please note that the training is no longer hosted on Epigeum and you must now access it via the CPD Training System.

Students are required to complete the Research Integrity Essentials course, which consists of 3 individual modules. 

Instructions for students to undertake the training:

  • Access the course via QM's CPD Training System.
    • If you have staff and student login credentials, please ensure you are logging into the CPD System with your student login.
  • Complete the three modules of the Research Integrity Essentials course:
    • Responsible Research Practice.
    • Irresponsible Research Practice.
    • Research Integrity at Queen Mary.
  • Complete the feedback survey and download your certificate of completion.

Please do not claim this training yourself on your Skills Points record - this will be rejected as it is recorded automatically by the CPD system when you have completed the course and downloaded your certificate.

 

Cybersecurity and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

All PGRs are required to complete Cybersecurity and GDPR training. This training can be accessed via the CPD System.

In line with QM requirements, you must complete this course manually and you will receive reminders prior to the required completion deadline each year.

Instructions for students to undertake the training:

  • Access the course via QM's CPD Training System.
    • If you have staff and student login credentials, please ensure you are logging into the CPD System with your student login.
  • Indicate whether or not you work for the NHS.
    • This will determine which version of the course you complete.
  • Provide the following information:
    • Are you a PGR student? - Tick 'Yes'.
    • Confirm you've read the Acceptable Use policy.
    • Confirm you've read the requirements for staff travelling to high risk countries.
  • Complete the course and then download your certificate of completion.
