School of Law success at the Queen Mary Education Awards 2024-25
Staff and initiatives at the School of Law featured in several categories at this year’s awards, which took place on 23 October.

Nicola Georgiou, Senior Lecturer in Criminal Law, won an Education Excellence Award for her interdisciplinary module, ‘From Crime Scene to Court.’ This module is designed to expose law students to the scientific dimensions of forensic evidence and equip them with skills they will need when engaging with expert witnesses. By using forensic science as a case study of the intersection between law and science, it raises issues of accuracy, reliability, and fairness.
Marissa Bidwell, Interim School Strategic Manager for Law, won a President and Principal’s Prize as part of the team delivering Queen Mary Apprenticeships. In October 2024, the Queen Mary Apprenticeship Teams led the preparation and delivery of an Ofsted inspection, where the University achieved the highest possible score of ‘Outstanding’ across all areas. The inspection required collaboration between academic and professional services staff, the gathering of hundreds of pieces of evidence at short notice and dedication and agility from the team.
The Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre was nominated for an award for their Social Welfare Benefits Clinic. The clinic provides the opportunity for our students to gain valuable skills while advising and representing members of the local community on appeals against Tribunal decisions on disability benefits.
As we celebrate our 60th Anniversary, these successes reflect the School of Law’s dedication to providing creative and pioneering legal education.
