Social Welfare Benefits Clinic
The Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre offers assistance with form filling for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Work Capability Questionnaires for Universal Credit (UC). We also assist with Mandatory Reconsideration requests for PIP and UC where initial applications have been rejected.
Form Filling
This is a free service, offering 90 minute form filling appointments for PIP benefit forms and Work Capability Questionnaires for Universal Credit.
Mandatory Reconsideration
As detailed above, we are able to assist with Mandatory Reconsideration requests. If you have missed the deadline for your Mandatory Reconsideration, please inform our team when you make your enquiry.
Appeals to the Social Security Tribunal
If you would like to challenge the outcome of a Mandatory Reconsideration of your Personal Independence Payment, we may be able to assist in preparing for your appeal to the First-tier Tribunal. This includes interviewing, completing written submissions and support in gathering further evidence. We may also be able to support you at the Tribunal hearing.
If you would like assistance in preparing for your First-tier Tribunal hearing please contact us through the link below. We will need the following to assess whether we will be able to assist you:
- The date you lodged your appeal to the First-tier Tribunal
- A copy of your appeal bundle
- Any other correspondence from the First-tier Tribunal or the DWP relating to the appeal.
We are not able to assist in lodging appeals or in onward applications for permission to appeal to the Upper Tribunal.
You listened carefully to my needs. The dedication and support you offered within a week of asking for help is invaluable. You also informed me of how long things will take and met the deadlines you set. Your service is a godsend.— QMLAC Client
