Library Services is currently undertaking a mandated procurement exercise to review our current Reading Lists System supplier in line with procurement regulations. 

During this process, there will be no disruption to the current Reading Lists service. We will continue to support teaching and learning as usual, including: 

  • Creating and updating reading lists 
  • Providing advice and support to academic staff 
  • Purchasing and processing reading list resources 

We encourage all academic staff to continue submitting reading lists in the usual way so that students have access to the resources they need for their studies. 

Procurement regulations require the University to review periodically and re-tender systems and services. 

We have been using Talis Aspire for the past 15 years. As part of our procurement obligations, we are now reviewing the market to ensure we continue to receive the best value, functionality and service for the University. 

The procurement process will allow us to: 

  • Review the current market and available solutions
  • Assess whether our existing system continues to meet the University's requirements
  • Ensure we are achieving the best value for money
  • Select the solution that best supports teaching, learning and the student experience

The outcome of the procurement may be to remain with our current supplier or to implement a new Reading Lists platform. 

  • August – November 2026 

Procurement process, including tender evaluation and supplier assessment 

  • December 2026 – January 2027 

Procurement outcome announced, confirming whether we will continue with our current supplier or move to a new Reading Lists system
