Library Search Event
The Library Services team ran drop-in sessions introducing students to the new Library Search

On Thursday 9 April, members of Library Services hosted a two hour session across the three library sites in order to promote our new Library Search to users.
Beyond raising awareness of the new Library Search, users were encouraged to try the new system out which gave staff the opportunity to gather initial user feedback now that the service is live.
It turned out to be a busy couple of hours. Staff spoke to almost 100 students across all three library sites, many of whom were keen to try the search tool on the spot and share their first impressions. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with lots of students highlighting how much smoother and more intuitive the new system feels.
The single sign-on feature made accessing resources much easier, and the option to save items for later were clear favourites. Students also loved the improved filters and the ability to view and compare resources all in one place.
Here’s what a few of them had to say:
“Really useful — I wish we’d had this last year, it would have been perfect.” (Dentistry student)
“[Citation export] is a magical feature… fantastic.” (Medicine student)
“It’s fantastic… love the filters. So much better than the old one.” (English student)
“Really easy to use. Nice to compare on one screen and gives access to things I wouldn’t always see.” (Dentistry student)
For staff, the session was just as valuable. It was a great chance to meet students face-to-face, hear their feedback first-hand, and see how the new Library Search is already making a difference.
