Bidrohi: Bangladeshi Struggles Across Borders, 10 June 2026

Centre for the Study of Race, Class & Empire at QMUL invites you to a community discussion on Bangladeshi struggles in East London & beyond on 10 June 2026, 6-8pm.

The Bangladeshi community in East London has earned a reputation for defiance - organising and building community power over issues from housing to racism to international solidarity. The Centre for the Study of Race, Class and Empire (RCE) invites you join us for a discussion with community activists and campaigners examining how Bangladeshis have sought to channel older political traditions while also finding new ways to relate to upheaval 'back home' in Bangladesh. They will trace that story of historical battles by Bangladeshis against second-class status in Britain, to the shockwaves of the Rana Plaza disaster in 2013, and the 2024 uprising in Bangladesh.

Speakers are from Nijjor Manush (UK), Nirikh/Lokayoto Collective (Bangladesh), and the Runnymede Trust.
