Mindfulness

Below you can find more information about mindfulness and resources available to staff.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a secular practice that help us to

  • be present in each moment
  • give attention to our thoughts, feelings and sensations
  • learn to work gently and positively with our self-critical voice

Being mindful in everyday life takes practice and patience along with commitment to focusing on the present moment, without judging, analysing or planning. Mindfulness can help you to stay calm, focused and better manage the pressures of life. Everyone can benefit from and enjoy Mindfulness.

Aware: A Mindfulness Programme

The Aware mindfulness programme, provided by Workplace Options as part of the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), helps you learn to meaningfully engage in the present moment. It offers a research-based approach to stress management, which is derived from some of the world's leading experts in the field.

A specially trained Aware specialist will guide you through a step-by-step process to learn the skills you need to reduce stress, emphasise the present, establish greater mind-body balance and increase overall wellbeing. Features include six telephonic sessions with an Aware specialist and an individualised practice plan, tailored to your needs.

You can access the programme by logging into the Queen Mary EAP portal here (code queenmary / pw employee) and search for 'aware', or use this link when logged in.
