Undergraduate funding

On these pages we explain the possible options for funding undergraduate study for Home fee payers. We have separate guidance for Overseas fee payers.

These pages are for current students and prospective undergraduate students starting a course in September 2026.

Important changes ahead for September 2027 entry:  The Student Loans Company is introducing a new undergraduate funding system in England in 2027 called Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE).  Any student normally resident in England who starts a new course in September 2027 or later will fall under this new system.  This also applies if you defer course entry to September 2027 or withdraw from your current course and start a new one in September 2027 or later.  Student loans/funding remain available but the rules, entitlements and application processes are changing.  Further information is available on the GOV.UK LLE pages. LLE does not apply to students normally resident elsewhere in the UK who apply for funding from the Scottish, Wales or Northern Ireland funding bodies.
