Profile

Dr Harding is a NHIR sponsored Clinical Lecturer in the Marelli-Berg laboratory at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). He completed his chemistry and medical degrees at the University of Oxford prior to undertaking his clinical cardiology training in London. His research background includes molecular biology (Oxford, Prof C Schofield) and genetic immunology (London, Prof F Brennan). He was previously an Academic Clinical Fellow at University College London (UCL) before joining QMUL for his BHF funded PhD in cardioimmunology.

Summary

Our research focuses on the role of the immune system in inflammatory cardiovascular disease. We have a clinical interest in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), acute myocarditis and infective endocarditis. We are also exploring the immune response to cardiogenic shock.

Teaching

Dr Harding supervises undergraduate students on the BIO604 and SSC4 programmes at QMUL. He also teaches clinical cardiology to undergraduate medical students at UCL and is a OSCE examiner for QMUL.
