Profile

Dr Elisa Rauseo is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London, and Consultant Cardiologist at Barts Heart Centre, Barts Health NHS Trust. She specialises in multimodality cardiovascular imaging, with expertise in cardiac CT, cardiovascular magnetic resonance, echocardiography, artificial intelligence and digital health.

Her academic work focuses on using advanced cardiovascular imaging, machine learning and patient-specific computational modelling to improve disease characterisation, risk stratification and personalised treatment in cardiovascular disease. She completed her PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine at Queen Mary University of London, where her research used large-scale imaging datasets, including UK Biobank, to identify imaging biomarkers and data-driven cardiovascular phenotypes. In 2025, she was awarded the Alfred Thomas Corrie Prize by Barts School of Medicine and Dentistry for her doctoral research.

Her current work focuses on AI, advanced cardiac CT and digital twins for personalised cardiology, including applications in transcatheter aortic valve implantation, atrial fibrillation, hypertension and heart failure. She has a particular interest in translating imaging-based and computational models into clinically useful tools for treatment planning, procedural decision-making and outcome prediction.

Dr Rauseo’s research focuses on the use of advanced cardiovascular imaging, artificial intelligence and computational modelling to improve personalised cardiovascular care.

Her work uses cardiac CT, cardiovascular magnetic resonance, echocardiography and large-scale clinical datasets to identify imaging biomarkers, disease phenotypes and risk markers across cardiovascular conditions. A major focus of her research is the development of patient-specific models and digital twins that can support earlier risk identification, treatment selection, procedural planning and outcome prediction.

Current research areas include digital twins in cardiology, AI-based image analysis, cardiac CT-derived tissue characterisation, photon-counting CT, computational modelling for transcatheter aortic valve implantation, atrial fibrillation ablation, hypertension phenotyping and heart failure. Her work sits at the interface between clinical cardiology, imaging, engineering, data science, regulatory science and translational medicine.
