The William Harvey Research Institute - Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry

What our students say

Pharmacology opened my eyes to a world beyond medicine, deepening my understanding of translational science and the drug discovery pipeline, from therapeutic design to scientific, regulatory and ethical considerations. The course enabled conversations with experts across research, industry, regulation and clinical practice, each showing how essential pharmacology is to progress in these fields. A major highlight has been the supportive community of lecturers and advisors, whose encouragement led me to become a PharmIT Student Ambassador and pursue a summer internship through In2Research, contributing to novel chemotherapy development. I feel privileged to study in a programme that genuinely invests in our growth and future paths.
— Ruby Eseoghene, BSc Pharmacology and Innovative Therapeutics
This course stood out for its blend of drug discovery and real-world therapeutic innovation. Learning from researchers at the William Harvey Research Institute was incredibly inspiring. A key highlight was my third-year project at the William Harvey Heart Centre, where I studied aortic aneurysms using histological staining—an experience that strengthened my practical skills and clarified the impact I hope to make in pharmacology. Beyond the lab, being part of the WHRI Society and working as a student ambassador helped me connect with others interested in drug development and share my enthusiasm for pharmacology.
— Nanthana Gunathilagan, BSc Pharmacology and Innovative Therapeutics
