We create a respectful, welcoming learning community where everyone can be their authentic self.
As students, we demonstrate this by:
- Treating others with dignity and respect, valuing difference in backgrounds, identities, experiences, and perspectives
- Respecting everyone’s right to express their views and identity openly on campus and online, even where we may disagree
- Supporting a culture where we all feel safe, confident, and able to be ourselves
- Being mindful of how, when, and where we express opinions, particularly where this may make others uncomfortable or limit their ability to feel included
- Listening actively and engaging constructively with different viewpoints
- Respecting personal boundaries or autonomy and ensuring all interactions are appropriate and consensual
- Challenging discrimination, harassment, or exclusion in a respectful and sensitive way

- Acting as positive ambassadors for the university on campus, in the community, and online
- Respecting and taking shared responsibility for university facilities, spaces, and shared resources; maintaining clean and welcoming environments.
- Using university facilities, systems, and digital resources responsibly, sustainably and appropriately
- Valuing and recognising the contribution of staff, peers, and the wider university community
- Celebrating our own achievements and recognising the successes of others
- Engaging positively in university life, including activities, events, and opportunities
- Taking ownership of our responsibilities, including attendance, deadlines, and conduct

We are motivated to learn, improve, and realise our potential.
As students, we demonstrate this by:
- Taking responsibility for our own learning and academic progress
- Engaging genuinely, actively, and authentically with teaching, learning, and assessment activities
- Acting responsibly in learning environments, avoiding behaviour that disrupts teaching, study, or university activities
- Producing work that demonstrates effort, care, and a commitment to improvement
- Seeking out and responding to feedback, embracing challenges and learning from setbacks
- Setting goals and striving to achieve them, making use of opportunities available to us
- Being proactive in seeking help and support when needed

- Acting in ways that protect the safety and wellbeing of ourselves and others, and not engaging in behaviour that is threatening, harmful, or reckless
