QMLAC celebrate successes at HSS Celebration of Staff Achievements 2025
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Queen Mary held their Celebration of Staff Achievements Awards earlier this month, with the QMLAC being successful in two categories.

Excellence in Education Award for the Practice of Law in a Clinical Environment module
Under the Education category, the Practice of Law in a Clinical Environment was awarded the Excellence in Education award. The module is convened by Director of the QMLAC, Frances Ridout.
The module enables Law students to undertake experiential learning on a curricular basis, enabling the students to undertake client work with the QMLAC in a level 6 module.
It has been running since 2016, but is refreshed regularly with pedagogical enhancements to improve inclusivity and keep up with industry norms. Some recent refreshments have seen the module introduce the innovative large-group pedagogy of team-based learning, and seen the introduction of integrated AI and legal tech as module topics.
Given the module’s inclusively-oriented range of assessments, socially-motivated opportunities and skill development profile, it remains a popular option for neurodivergent students, and attracts a highly diverse student cohort.
Commendation for Student Pathways and Employability for QMLAC staff
Under the Professional Services category, the QMLAC’s team were commended for their work in supporting Student Pathways and Employability.
The QMLAC team facilitate a thorough programme of training for the students who work at the centre, and support them professionally and holistically throughout their time at the centre. This year, the QMLAC is engaging with around 550 students over the various streams of work.
Student Quote:
“[a highlight was] getting to experience client work! I think the QMLAC is exceptional at providing students with an opportunity to take a lead on what they do... I am beyond grateful for everything I have been able to get involved with and know that I have learnt so much over the 3 years. It has also given me so much added confidence.”
Congratulations to Professor Frances Ridout, Helen Cord, Meghan Mizen, Kelli Ryan, Katy Robinson, Daisy Keter, Eve Haynes, Rachel Yi, Dimple Vadher, Rumina Begum, Zehra Sonerman and Neha Vasist!
