25 July 2025

Recently Colombia’s former Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Luis Carlos Reyes, pointed out the growing concern about the legitimacy of investment arbitration, stressing that democratic states must have the authority to regulate in the public interest, especially when the practices of multinationals may undermine national policies. The Brazilian Amazon Is Our Saviour: We're All in This Together!
1 May 2025

Breathe in. Hold. Breathe out. Picture a blue and green disco ball...yes folks, I mean our world! Every breath we take is influenced by the Amazon; called the ‘lungs of the Earth’, the rainforest is crucial in absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen, helping regulate global climate patterns. What if we lost it? Extreme weather could become the norm, biodiversity could plummet, and climate change could accelerate. That’s where we’re heading if Amazonian deforestation continues. Brazil’s environmental laws are full of loopholes, and the Amazon is vulnerable. But we don’t have to sit back and watch it burn. Global actors—like the UK—can take charge, safeguarding the Amazon for generations to come.

The laws surrounding euthanasia and the rights of those who are terminally ill vary drastically from country to country, with the UK being part of the majority that rules euthanasia to be illegal. However, the MPs backing of the new proposed Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill could revolutionise the UK’s laws around this hotly contested topic.

When Jay Chou fell victim to a phishing scam in 2022, he lost $560,000 (roughly £445,000) worth of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). As both the popularity and value of digital assets continue to grow, these scams are occurring more frequently, leaving owners more vulnerable than ever.

UK Far Right Protests (2024): A Dangerous Blend of Misinformation, Technology, and Extremism
15 April 2025

In August 2024, far-right protests left my city (which has a significant Muslim and immigrant population) frightened. On a day that protesters were rumoured to be taking to the city centre, I found it almost empty, and truly realised the gravity of the situation.
