Distance Learning Enrolment Process

Enrolment at Queen Mary - Queen Mary University of London

All enrolments take place online and you do not have to attend campus to become fully enrolled.

If you are a non-British/Irish national on a Distance Learning programme and will be living or studying in the UK, during Pre-Enrolment you will be required to complete Immigration Permission Details - Part One and Part Two to evidence that you hold valid immigration permission to live/study in the UK.

Enrolment guidance dependent on your applicant type:

Please be advised that if you are on a Postgraduate Degree Apprenticeship programme then you are not required to arrange to pay your fees as part of the enrolment process. Your fee payments will have already been arranged and therefore the only thing that is required of you is to complete Pre-Enrolment in MySIS by the enrolment deadline (details towards the bottom of this webpage).

As part of Pre-Enrolment you will need to provide proof of identification. Examples include:

  • The biographical details page from your passport, or
  • a Birth Certificate/Adoption Certificate which must be accompanied by photographic identification (e.g. driver's licence). If you do not have a driver's licence or proof of age card with the PASS logo you must contact distancelearning@qmul.ac.uk as soon as possible to inform us of what photographic identification you do have. We can then support you accordingly.
  • If you are a non-British/Irish national living and/or studying in the UK, you will also be required to provide evidence of your immigration status. Failure to provide sufficient ID/evidence will mean you will not be allowed to enrol.

Registry Services will complete Queen Mary Enrolment after you have completed Pre-Enrolment and they have all of the documentation required. You are not required to attend campus to complete your enrolment. Please remember that if any of the required documents are not submitted (e.g. proof of identification or immigration permission to enrol then you will not be fully enrolled.

Once fully enrolled, you will receive an email to confirm the process is complete and the subject line is ‘Enrolment at QMUL’.

Pre-Enrolment and required documentation

You should complete Pre-Enrolment in MySIS by the enrolment deadline (details towards the bottom of this webpage). As part of Pre-Enrolment you will need to upload proof of your identity and nationality.

Examples of proof of identification are:

  • The biographical details page from your passport, or
  • national identity card (both sides), or
  • a Birth Certificate/Adoption Certificate which must be accompanied by photographic identification (e.g. driver's licence). If you do not have a driver's licence or proof of age card with the PASS logo you must contact distancelearning@qmul.ac.uk as soon as possible to inform us of what photographic identification you do have. We can then support you accordingly. Failure to provide sufficient ID will mean you will not be allowed to enrol.

In a small number of cases, we may request certified copies of your academic documentation to verify your qualifications. This may be in the form of a scanned copy by email. You will be notified separately if this is required.

After you have completed Pre-Enrolment in MySIS, uploaded proof of identity and made arrangements to pay your fees, you can be fully enrolled remotely - you are not required to attend campus to become fully enrolled. You will receive an email to update you on your enrolment status and the subject line is 'Your Enrolment at QMUL'.

Pay your Tuition Fees

Self-Funded Students: You have a choice of either paying all of the tuition for the academic year in full at the start of your programme, or paying in two instalments.

You can set up a payment plan with the Fees Office, whereby you agree to pay 50% of your tuition fees at the start of your programme and pay the remaining 50% by 31 January (September starters) or 30 April (January starters). Please note there is a £50 administrative fee to set up a payment plan.
