How you can work with Queen Mary

There are multiple ways to partner with our academics at Queen Mary. Our Business Development team can work with you to establish the right partnership to meet your business goals.

Strategic industry partnerships

Collaborative and contract research

Work together with world-leading experts to accelerate innovation through bespoke research projects, often with grant-funding from Innovate UK.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

Part-funded by government through Innovate UK, a KTP is a three-way research partnership between your business, Queen Mary, and an exceptional graduate who transfers the new knowledge into the business.

A KTP provides:

  • Expert academic input
  • Access to specialist university equipment and facilities
  • A dedicated team to deliver a strategic project
  • Support from an adviser at every stage
  • Shared development costs and reduced risk with your government co-funders
  • Wider support from links to Innovate UK
  • A well-structured and managed innovation process

KTPs are open to UK-based businesses with two or more full-time equivalent employees. For large businesses, 50% of the costs are paid for by a grant from Innovate UK, the government's innovation agency. For small or medium-sized businesses the grant is 67%. The remaining project costs are met by the business.
