Available across selected MSc programmes, the new pathway enables students to undertake an industry placement as part of their degree, helping them develop practical skills, expand professional networks, and gain first-hand insight into the workplace.
The initiative reflects the School’s ongoing commitment to enhancing student employability and preparing graduates for successful careers in a competitive global market. Students will have the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in professional settings across sectors such as banking, finance, consulting, fintech, investment, data analysis, and business operations.
The Year in Industry opportunity builds on the School’s strong focus on career development and industry engagement. Alongside their studies, students already benefit from a range of employability support, including careers workshops, employer events, networking opportunities, and professional skills training.
By integrating industry experience into postgraduate study, the School aims to help students graduate with both the academic expertise and practical experience sought by employers.
Professor Veronica Veleanu, Director of Careers, Employability and Alumni in the School of Economics and Finance, said:
“We are delighted to introduce the MSc Year in Industry opportunity as part of our continued investment in student employability and professional development. This initiative will give students the opportunity to gain meaningful workplace experience, strengthen their industry connections, and enhance their future career prospects.”
Students participating in the programme will receive dedicated support throughout the placement process, including guidance on applications, CV development, interview preparation, and career planning.
The launch of the MSc Year in Industry opportunity further strengthens the School’s reputation for delivering academically rigorous programmes with a strong emphasis on real-world application and graduate outcomes.
