Q-Review Tips and Tricks
These observations have been compiled from our lessons learned when providing support across the institution.
Logging in
Staff and students should always log into Q-Review via the corresponding QMplus page. In the first instance this auto creates your account, it also attaches you to the correct collections on Q-Review, ensuring you can access the correct captures.
Embedding your Q-Review link into QMplus
Embed your Q-Review link into QMplus, ensuring you use the Q-Review Recordings activity. This ensures your students can access their recordings, using normal links will not work properly, please see our guide to learn how to do this.
How do I know if my lecture is recording?
In all Q-Review enabled rooms there is a light on the front desk, this tells you whether or not the recording is taking place.
White: No input – System error, loss of power or PC is turned off
Green: System idle – System is ready to record
Amber: Status transition – System transitioning from recording to not recording
Flashing Amber: Recording paused, tap the light to resume recording
Red: Recording in progress – tap light if you want to pause it

Ensuring the audio is captured
If you are using the podium mic please be mindful that there is a range limit. If you move around a lot whilst you lecture, or move to another part of the lecture theatre to answer questions, this may not be picked up on the microphone, therefore a lapel mic may be more appropriate for you.
Ensuring your slides are readable
Please consider the readability of slides. Ensure high contrast between background and text, use dyslexia-friendly fonts such as Arial, and maintain appropriate spacing between letters, sentences, and lines. This helps all students, especially those with dyslexia, to see and process the content more effectively.
