Upcoming Q Review Workshop – and a Spotlight on Accessibility
John Seamons will run a Q‑Review workshop on 6 July 2026. Alongside a general introduction to Q‑Review, the session will also highlight key accessibility tools that support inclusive teaching, including transcripts, captions, playback controls and the accessibility widget. TEL Student Ambassador Hana Yehya created a short video showing how she uses accessibility tools with Q‑Review transcripts. Staff are encouraged to sign up.

I will be delivering my first Q‑Review workshop on Monday 6 July 2026, 10:00–11:30. The session is open to all staff, and I encourage colleagues who use lecture capture—regularly or occasionally—to sign up on CPD.
In preparation, I’ve been updating existing materials and developing new content. One new section links to Global Accessibility Awareness Day, highlighting the range of accessibility features available within Q‑Review. These tools support inclusive teaching and benefit all learners, so I wanted to briefly raise awareness of them here.
One of our TEL Student Ambassadors, Hana Yehya, has also produced an excellent short video demonstrating how she uses the Accessibility Conversion Tool alongside Q‑Review transcripts. It offers a valuable student perspective and is well worth watching.
Key Accessibility Features in Q‑Review
Q‑Review provides several built‑in tools designed to support accessible, flexible and student‑friendly engagement with recorded content.

Transcripts are generated shortly after a recording is uploaded. They appear in the transcript panel next to the video.
Closed Captions
Students can switch captions on using the CC button in the player.
Transcript Editing
Staff can edit transcripts to improve accuracy, correct names and apply updated versions as captions.
Access via: Video thumbnail → More Actions → Edit Transcript.
Apply to CC
After editing, staff can apply the updated transcript as captions using the Apply to CC option.
Playback Speed Controls
Students can slow down or speed up recordings to support comprehension and different learning preferences.
User‑Friendly Accessibility Widget
Q‑Review includes an on‑screen, user‑friendly accessibility widget offering simple adjustments such as:
