Reflecting on Our TELT Induction Session

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to the eleven wonderful colleagues who joined us in person at Dept. W on 22 October 2025 for our first ever Induction to TELT session.
The session aimed to highlight the technology-enhanced learning (TEL) tools available at QMUL, demonstrate how they can be used in teaching, and share information on accessing further support and contacting TELT . We also wanted to use it as a chance to bring people together. Attendees included academics, school learning technologists, and professional services staff, with a mix of colleagues who had joined Queen Mary only a few months ago and others who have been part of the university for over ten years — making for a diverse and engaging group.
Co-designed and co-delivered by Training and Support Manager Alysa Bramble and Learning Technologist John Seamons, the session began with an engaging introduction from Head of Department Surit Uppal, who provided an excellent overview of TELT and the work we do as a team. Our Learning Technology Officers — Raqib Khan, Estelle Taylor, and Abi Mason — also played a key role in supporting the event. Raqib welcomed attendees and created the feedback survey; Estelle and Abi introduced their roles, offered practical guidance for staff raising support tickets, and took part in interactive activities.
A highlight of the session was the launch of our new CPD book, co-created with TEL Ambassadors Davina and Frankie. This interactive resource captures the student voice and provides a comprehensive hub of information for staff — including guidance on TELT’s support services, videos, tips, and more. The CPD book is available via the CPD site, where access is granted after completing a short quiz and introductory video.
We explored the TEL-supported systems and tools at QMUL, demonstrating some of them in action. The CPD book was created with H5P, and Menti powered our live presentation and quiz — congratulations to Ulriche Prempeh-Tawiah, our quiz winner! We also showcased student-created videos and a short webinar clip using QMplus Media. Participants joined group activities — one using Padlet and another exploring the breadth of support TELT provides. We were really impressed with their responses and involvement throughout the session.
There was something special about meeting in person — a welcome change after so many virtual sessions. Our attendees were enthusiastic, engaged, and contributed thoughtful questions and lively discussion throughout.
We thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and look forward to continued collaboration. To join future editions of the workshop or training session, visit our CPD booking site. If no sessions are currently available, you can join the waiting list to be notified as soon as new dates are released.
