Educational activities
EMR contributes to approx. 525 teaching hours annually across the Faculty of Medicine and the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences (of which 90 hours are dedicated to MBBS; 441hrs toward SBBS, 173hrs towards hybrid MBBS/SBBS, and 2hrs for MRes). EMR leads and co-leads 3 modules in FMD and SBBS and contributes to the delivery of > 10 modules each year across the two schools. EMR academics supervise approx. 24 MBBS students through the FMD academic advisory scheme [Medical Professionalism] and 8 SBBS students in their BSc final year projects. The centre organises the delivery of > 200 OSCE sessions by the WHRI academics for the assessment of the MBBS students [of which 31 are carried out by the EMR staff] and leads the annual WHRI Work Experience Programme that hosts approx. 30 sixth from students.
Precision Musculoskeletal Sciences MSc Programme
This new postgraduate programme is the world’s first MSc in Precision Musculoskeletal Sciences, launching in September 2026.
With a strong emphasis on biopsy-driven stratification, multi-omics approaches, innovative clinical trial design, and clinical observership in collaboration with the Barts Health Education Academy at Barts Health NHS Trust, the programme positions itself at the forefront of modern musculoskeletal medicine.
